Assignment 20A. Growing Your Social Capital

Domain Expert:
1) Who they are and what their background is.
Elizabeth (I've decided not to include the last names due to privacy) and she has started a Instagram page devoted to eating right and exercises. She wants to encourage  people in her area to eat healthy and exercise regularly.
2) How this person is a Domain Expert
She encourages people in South Florida. She has many followers and she is encouraging people not only about eating healthy, and exercising but also about their mental health, which is so important on this journey!!! I consider her an expert because she has experience in eating healthy and exercising.
3) A description of how you found the person and contacted the person.
I went to High School with Liz and she happens to be married to my brothers best friend. I have contacted her via text and on Instagram because that's where she posts the most.
4) The nature of the exchange you have with the person -- what favor did they do for you? What is the return expectation?
Liz has gave me some tips on how she feels when necessary to post and what to post. I'm not sure if any favors were exchanged but we did talk about ideas and we gave each other tips on what we think would work best for an app.
5) How will including this person in your network enhance your ability to exploit an opportunity?
This will enhance my ability to get people to use my app down in South Florida, I don't go down there as much as I used to so having Liz as a friend would help spread the word in different areas that I necessarily can't reach all the time.

Market Expert:
1) Who they are and what their background is.
Deonte (I've decided not to use last names due to privacy). He is a former cop and now works at Gainesville Health and Fitness (GHF)  which is one of our local gyms
2) How is this person a market expert?
Deonte is a Market expert because he works and engages with people everyday who would use my app.
3) A description of how you found the person and contacted the person.
Deonte is my roommate, I have sat down and "interviewed" him about the gym and his fitness background.
4) The nature of the exchange you have with the person -- what favor did they do for you? What is the return expectation?
We exchanged advice on workouts and healthy meal eating. Deonte not only works at the gym but goes to the gym everyday and eats extremely healthy so he was a great person to talk to.
5) How will including this person in your network enhance your ability to exploit an opportunity?
This will enhance my ability to get the people on my app together. If we could rent a room at GHF the locals on the app could all get together once or twice a week to socialize and workout. This would make the app more interesting.

Supplier Expert:
1) Who they are and what their background is.
Daniel ( I've decided not to use last names because of privacy). He sells workout machines and sets that you can do in the comfort of your home.
2) How is this person an industry supplier?
He is an industry supplier because he sells the equipment we would use to us and other gyms around the city.
3) A description of how you found the person and contacted the person.
I also went to High School with him. He lives in Gainesville now so I've interviewed with him and emailed him.
4) The nature of the exchange you have with the person -- what favor did they do for you? What is the return expectation?
We exchanged the best machines for what we want and at a responsible price. Daniel also loves to eat healthy and workout so we exchanged ideas on the best way to get the fastest results.
5) How will including this person in your network enhance your ability to exploit an opportunity?
This will enhance  my ability to get the word out in Gainesville. Daniel moved here knowing a lot of people in the city of Gainesville so once I talk to him he could get the word out about the app faster than I could.

Finally: Reflect. This experience requires you to do a little 'targeted networking.' How will this experience shape how you participate in any future networking events? Did this experience differ from your networking experiences in the past? How?
This experience will help me to always keep my mind open to new things. All three of my interviews I got different feedback so it was cool to take a little from each of them and brainstorm my ideas as well. Everyone has different ways they like to workout so I just need to figure out the best one for my target market and go from there. This hasn't differed from my networking experiences, I feel networking is basically the same across the board, it's not what you know, it's who you know, and for the moment that is my moto!

Assignment 19A. Idea Napkin 2

1) You. Who you are. What your talents are. What your skills and experiences are. Also: what are your aspirations? Specifically regarding your business concept, how do you see this business (if you were to start it) playing a role in your life?
My name is Jaycie Wegner. After talking to my 5 closest friends I found out that I am a hard worker, and I never give up on things. If I want to do something it gets done someway or another. If I were to start a business it would play a huge role in my life. Like my friends said I am a hard worker and once it clicks in my head that that's what I want to do nothing can get in my way! Starting a business would change my life because I would put everything I have in it.
2) What are you offering to customers? Describe the product or service (in other words, how you'll solve customers' unmet needs).
This part hasn't changed. I'm offering customers an app that gives them recipes for meals to eat healthy, as well as certain workouts to do for the week to achieve goals. Along with that this app will provide people a place to talk to other people in the same circumstances as them, and if they're close enough perhaps workout together, or grab lunch together. I want these people to know they're not alone and they can have the support they need from people in the same situation as them.
Based on my feedback I would add somethings into my app just to make it more attractive to the people using the app. It's never fun to dread working out or healthy but if you spice things up and try to make it enjoyable you would be surprised that people don't mind doing it!
3) Who are you offering it to? Describe, in as much detail as possible, the demographic and psychographic characteristics of your customers. Think especially of this question: what do your customers all have in common?
This part hasn't changed. The demographic is anyone who fits the criteria it doesn't matter age or income. I imagine the psychographic characteristics of my customers are that they enjoy eating, and enjoy not working out, but that is not everyone in the category there's people who watch what they eat but just can't lose the weight. All my of customers want to lose weight and want to live a healthier life.
4) Why do they care? Your solution is only valuable insofar as customers believe its valuable to them. Here, explain why customers will actually pay you money to use your product or service.
These people care because they want to live a longer life. One of the big reasons for losing the weight is because their health is in danger, or it's going downhill. These people want to be able to see their kids get married, they want to be there when their grandchildren are born. They have chosen life and they want to live a long healthy one
5) What are your core competencies? What sets you apart from everyone else? Also: what do you have that nobody else has?
What sets me apart from everyone else is I care about each and every person that is on the app. I want these people to succeed and if they aren't I'm there to figure out why and help. I will also get in touch with everyone on my app once a month to see their progress and how they're doing, I want to have a relationship with all of my customers.
Based on my feedback I say I am the perfect person to start up a business especially a business I care about. Once I get the idea and resources to start it up,  nothing can stop me. I want to make a difference in these peoples lives.

In addition to these five elements, please spend a paragraph evaluating whether you believe these elements fit together or whether there are aspects of your business concept that are weaker / out-of-joint with the others.
I believe all of these elements work together and when they work together perfectly that's when the success of the business will come. These are all little parts of the company and when all the parts fit together you're in good shape.

For the "feedback memo" -- please summarize at least two main points that you took away from the feedback you received. Also, please describe how you incorporated the feedback into this idea napkin.
I included many things from my 5 closest people. I included my strengths and why I believe that I would the perfect person to start a business like this. I included some of the different things on the app so people know a little bit about the app itself. I also why I feel this app would be successful and the people using this app why they should feel it will help them in the long run.

Assignment 17. Elevator pitch number 2

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nP2wMjgG_wI

2. All of the feedback I got helped me, I reconsidered some of the stuff I put into my elevator pitch and added some other stuff that I felt would help it as well. The feedback made me take a step back and analyze my pitch.
3. My pitch was essentially the same but I added some words here or there to make the pitch better than it was. One of my comments was about explaining the app a little more so I did that in this elevator pitch whereas my first one lacked that.

Assignment 18. Create a customer Avatar

My average customer is a mother in her late 30’s. She lives in Savannah Georgia. Her hobbies include making teacher gifts from scratch and baking goodies for her children on a daily basis. She is a very crafty person. She drives a blue soccer mom minivan so she can fit all her kids in the same car when she has to drop them off at multiple sporting events on a daily basis. Her husband is a very busy man with work but he helps out every chance he can get. She loves binge watching Grey's and This is Us.

She loves a good mystery read and enjoys reading on the beach the most especially at sunrise or sunset, she says it's the most peaceful thing in the world. Her favorite politician is Trump, she feels that even though he can’t keep his mouth shut on social media he will do more good than harm in this world! Her life is taking a toll on her and she feels about 50 when in reality she's in her late 30’s.

I have many things in common with my avatar I want many kids and I would love to be crafty with them. My avatar and I have a lot in common when it comes to the heart, she wants the best not only for herself but for his kids and her husband, she wants to stay around long enough to see them all off to college or to walk down the aisle. I think that it isn’t a coincidence we have things in common because that’s how I plan on running my app, not because it’s just business but because these are great people who just need a little push in life

Assignment 16

1) Describe five ways in which you think you have human capital that is truly unique.
1. Compassion: I am very compassionate when it comes to other people. I know things happen and often times I can relate to them easily. I also enjoy listening to people when they need a shoulder to cry on.
2. Moral character: I like to do things the right way, I don't like taking short cuts or cheating the system. I'd like to say my morals are in check almost all the time.
3. Experience: I love to experience new things. One of my favorite quotes is "When is the last time you something for the first time?" I have done many things in my life because I want to experience everything I can before I have to settle down into a 9-5 job. Some people think it's crazy, but I think it's the opposite of that.
4. Creativity: I love to be creative in everything I do. I try to be as creative as possible in my everyday life. I like spicing it up and making everything unique.
5. Passion: I like to enjoy everything I do. My moto for right now is "to never work a day in my life if I love my job" and that's exactly what the plan is.

Reflection: I see myself different than my closest friends do. Listening to their audios made me take a step back and look at the big picture. I would like to think I am all those things my friends said I am, but it's a little harder for me to see that than them!

Assignment 15. Figuring out Buyer Behavior. No 2

Reports findings and Draw conclusions:
All of my interviews were very helpful. In all three of my interviews they gave me ideas on how to make the app better and what they would be looking for in an app for working out. Zach said he would enjoy having competitions throughout the week to spice things up a bit. Whereas Lauren said the community is all she would like to have, she works out better when people are working out with her.
My favorite idea was given to me by Jessica, she said once a year we have a "conference" for everyone who has the app and we can get together and see how far these people have come in a year. It would be like a get a way for everyone, but during this time we would all workout, and prepare meals together. It's a way to come together once a year make friends, have fun, but we would get together to remember why we started in the first place! Obviously this idea would start once the company got to a decent size, but I like the idea and I think I can work with it and add somethings to it. Overall, the people I interviewed gave me some really good feedback and I can't wait to implement my ideas into the app!

Assignment 14. Halfway Reflection

1) Tenaciousness is a competency. What are the behaviors that you have used (or developed) to keep up with the requirements of this course?
2) Tenaciousness is also about attitude. Talk about a moment or two when you felt like "giving up." What pulled you through? Do you feel like you've developed a tenacious attitude during the past two months? What experience or experiences most contributed to this?
3) Three tips. What are three tips you would offer next semester's student about (1) fostering the skills that support tenacity and (2) developing the 'tenacious mindset' ?

1) I personally like to work ahead in this class (most of the time at least!). It just makes it so much easier to get things done if you work ahead! I also have to remind myself that assignments are due at noon on the day off and not at midnight! I've missed a quiz because of that, but they aren't worth that much so it's okay! If you keep up with the assignments the class is pretty easy.
2) I have wanted to give up SO MANY times in my college career but every time I just want to throw my hands up and turn my towel in, I think of where I want to be when I'm done with this adventure. I personally think my whole college experience has given me a tenacious attitude. I want to be successful and it seems like you can't be successful in this day and age without having a degree. Another reason is my mother has always wanted to come to UF but when she finished school she already had 2 kids and was living down south so she never had the chance to fulfill her dreams, she often tell me that I am living her dream and how she is so proud that I get a chance to! That's enough for me to keep going and get through!
3) Foster the skill of getting a head in the game it will always put you ahead and make your life easier when it comes to your other classes. This class is an easy A, and you learn a lot from it so take advantage! When developing the tenacious mindset this is an easy class but it's also requires some time as well, don't underestimate how much time or effort you should put into this class, after all you are paying for it! Lastly, take everything Dr. Pryor says and try to use it in your everyday life! He is very knowledgeable and if you yourself want to be an entrepreneur it will do you wonders, and if you don't I guarantee you'll still use some of the information in your everyday job!

Assignment 13 A. Reading Reflections 1

1. I chose to read the Wright Brothers by David McCullough. What surprised me the about these brothers was they had nothing to go off but imagination and they taught the world how to fly. They had no electricity, plumbing, and even TVs yet they never gave up on their dreams. They knew they could fly and they weren't going to stop until they should the world they could! They were true entrepreneurs.
I admired their aspirations. If I had just 1/4 of their aspirations I could conquer the world, they were so determined. When I was read this book I could feel how bad they wanted to succeed. These guys knew that every time they took off on their adventures they could end their lives, yet it didn't stop them. They wanted to fly so badly they would kill themselves doing it.
I admired everything they've done! They had an opportunity and they ran with it! I would have to say I would do the same thing if I had the chance!!!
The Wright brother's like many other entrepreneurs failed before they succeeded. Frequently the planes failed because the unexpected winds or hindrances that would happen, but after any good entrepreneur after they failed they went back to the drawing board and starting thinking of ideas to make their plane fly.
2. The Wright brothers never gave up and I believe that is hands down the reason they succeeded. I believe that without each other they would've had succeeded. They both had very good assets that brought value to the table.
3. I wasn't so much confused when reading this book but just in awe of how two men with no more than High School Degrees, could be so smart to create such an awesome thing. Not to say that you need an education for everything but growing up in this day and age that's what I've always been taught. You HAVE to go to school to get an education but these men used their common sense and genius abilities and shocked the world, including me!
4. I would ask them why create something that fly's? Where did this idea come from?
My second question would be did you ever come to a dead end in your journey where you thought you would just give up? If you did what made you push through and keep going?
5. I think their idea of hard work was to never give up even on the hardest days when you're having the hardest battles, it will always be worth it in the end! I mean these guys created a plane that could fly, that has to be rewarding when you finally get it in the air and get in back on the ground safely! I share that opinion completely, hard work always pays off.

Assignment 12 A. Figuring out Buyer Behavior

Segment: Adults from the ages of 30-50

Finding: For this I interviewed people are obese or are on the edge of becoming. Once we got our conversation going, they started opening up and telling me the steps they have taken before to "get on the right track" but they haven't turned out so well for them in the past. The hardest part for all of them seems to be Thanksgiving, Christmas and birthdays! All these holidays have a lot a food around them and they don't seem to do any kind of exercise to get rid of all the carbs they just inhaled. All of the people I interviewed have a lot in common, they all have the same struggles and all want to get healthy again.

Conclusion: I learned that if I seem to be interested in the app and losing weight with them, they are more likely to use the app or want to lose the weight. In this situation I think everyone just wants someone to be there helping them through this time, I know for me it's a lot easier to go to the gym if I have a partner saying "hey lets get up and go to the gym" than it is me pushing myself. Sometimes you just need people there to say hey lets do this, we CAN do this.
